PUC Services Encourages Eligible Customers to Access Free Energy Upgrades

 Sault Ste. Marie, ON (February 26, 2026) – PUC Services Inc. is encouraging eligible customers currently enrolled in the Ontario Electricity Support Program (OESP) to take advantage of free home energy upgrades available through the Energy Affordability Program (EAP) and the Home Winterproofing Program (HWP).

These programs help income-eligible homeowners and renters reduce energy costs and improve home comfort through free energy-efficient upgrades.

Both the EAP (through Save on Energy) and HWP (through Enbridge Gas) programs are supported by PUC Services Inc. CLEAResult Canada is the program delivery agent in our region and is who customers will speak with when they call to learn more or sign up. If you qualify, a trained energy‑efficiency expert will visit your home to complete a free in‑home energy needs assessment and explain what help may be available to you.

Based on the assessment and eligibility requirements, upgrades may include:

·        LED light bulbs and smart power bars

·        Smart thermostats

·        Energy-efficient appliances, including refrigerators, freezers and dehumidifiers

·        Insulation and other home efficiency improvements

·        Heat pumps for qualifying electrically-heated homes

Limited-time opportunity for oil-heated homes: Households that use oil heating may also qualify for the Oil to Heat Pump Affordability (OHPA) program through Save on Energy and Natural Resources Canada. Available until Dec. 31, 2026, the program supports the replacement of oil heating systems with a new electric heat pump system at no cost to eligible participants.

Single phone number provides one-window access to EAP, HWP and OHPA

Homeowners only need to make one call to apply, and that single application will be used to determine eligibility and access available support for all applicable programs.
