PUC Services Inc. Hosts Open House in Celebration of World Water Day

Sault Ste. Marie, ON (March 3, 2026) — PUC Services Inc. is excited to invite the community to a special open house at the City’s Wastewater Treatment Plant in celebration of World Water Day. This year’s event will take place on Friday, March 20, 2026, offering residents a unique opportunity to explore how wastewater is treated and safely returned to the environment.

World Water Day, observed annually on March 22, raises awareness about the importance of freshwater and sustainable water management worldwide. To celebrate, PUC is opening the Wastewater Treatment Plant for free guided tours, offering attendees an inside look at the essential processes that protect public health and preserve our local waterways.

• Location: East End Wastewater Treatment Plant, 2221 Queen Street East

Take a guided, behind-the-scenes tour of the facility to see firsthand how wastewater from homes and businesses is collected, treated, and safely returned to the natural environment. You’ll have the opportunity to meet our skilled wastewater operators, ask questions, and learn more about the advanced technologies and environmental safeguards in place. Families, students, and community members are encouraged to attend. This engaging and educational experience is designed to inspire a greater understanding of the essential role wastewater treatment plays in protecting our community and environment.

All participants must wear closed-toe shoes. Hard hats and safety glasses will be provided on
site. Space is limited, and advance registration is required to secure a spot.
